Currently Functionality:
You can bookmark, have RSS feeds, or subscribe to boards, threads, and ideas. But for search results, you can only have a RSS feed. For those people who aren't RSS feed people or don't want 38 widgets on their iGoogle homepage, it's nice to offer other search results options.
Requested Functionality:
We've customized our Lithium solution, so that members /moderators can request email subscriptions to search queries/results.
And it's awesome...people love it, because they can do a few different searches on terms related to their area of expertise and then they're proactively notified when something relating to their area of expertise is being discussed in the forum. I would like to see this as standard functionality in the Lithium platform.
Business Impact:
-Helps SMEs stay involved in conversations relevant to them...regardless of where the conversation is taking place in the community
-Provides friendly "Come visit the community" email reminders
As clutter goes, I think it would be great if placeholders (you know...when you move posts) can be set to expire (delete) after a set period of time. I think a week is sufficient time for the OP to come back, discover their post has moved, and go about their business.
This could be either a global setting, or perhaps a per-action setting like "mark placeholder read-only" is today. Perhaps the Admin could set the default expiry time and optionally choose "Placeholder Expires" or "Never Expire" when moving a post.
I was surprised at how much of the users' profile was hidden and separated from their ideas and idea comments. Bascially, there's the user's forum screen name and any color, bolding, and little tag that is associated with their forum rank, but their actual rank, # of posts, and their icon/avatar aren't displayed.
I would like to see more of a users' profile (similar to what's displayed next to a user's forum posts) displayed alongside of their ideas and idea comments.
Benefits include:
- Display Community ranks that are specifically related to a member's # of ideas posted & idea comments on the Idea threads (seems a bit odd that forum ranks that are earned through contributions on Ideas are only displayed in the forum)
- Help Product Management recognize which ideas are coming from Community super users, newbies, etc. and take that into account in their responses (e.g. maybe newbie members need a bit more coaching)
- Give more nuanced recognition to active contributors (because only the top customers get their forum screen names bolded and get the little gold star--or its equivalent--next to their name)
It seems like this would dovetail in with Lithium's best practices for driving participation via recognition and superuser engagement.
I'd like to see a warning feature added. It could be another item in the Options dropdown along with Abuse. Clicking on it would pop up a PM pre-addressed to the forum member with a link to the offending message. The moderator could then add any appropriate comments and send it on its way. Quick and easy semi-automated handling of situations.
It would really be nice if a log of those warnings (and temporary bans, for that matter) were kept for each member that could be accessed via a link or displayed directly on the member's profile so that we don't have to try to keep up with someone's record either in our archives or the private board.

CURRENT FUNCTIONALITY: Individuals can write & populate or otherwise, create their own macros, but as a community administrator, I can't streamline this for them and ensure the accuracy or quality of the macros that they use.
ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: I would like to be able to create standard macros that I could associate / tie to certain forum roles. They also should be re-named to a more intuitive term
BUSINESS IMPACT OF MISSING FUNCTIONALITY: Macros are really spiffy, and optimizing how macros work could really help moderators quickly respond to different situations and respond accurately (e.g. all the right details, not have to copy and paste templates from the moderator board, no spelling mistakes, nice tone).
Thanks!
I just wrote this and it lost it...server timeout, so this is the abbreviated version.
Current Functionality
If an idea has the incorrect label or is missing a label, you can only change it by going "Edit Idea" > Edit/Add Label > Post idea. This isn't as intuitive or obvious to Ideas facilitators/product management, because they're more focused on commenting on ideas and updating idea statuses. Plus, if an idea doesn't have the right label on it, then the business owner might not see it, so it's not helping ensure that ideas are getting funneled to the right people in the organization (e.g. think X idea needs X label to be seen by X biz owner).
Requested Functionality
Expand the idea comment/status change functionality to let facilitators/moderators/admins (basically, anyone with that permission) edit or add labels to an idea. And not have to go into Edit mode.
Business Impact
- Expand Ideas facilitators' role in the discussion.
- Make it easy to get ideas to the right place in the company & in the Ideas app
- Save time
- Reduce click-intensiveness point of moderation
Suggestion:
It might be useful to have the ability to toggle a "hold for moderation" setting for users. I believe moderation delays are available for blogs, but not forums presently..
How it might work:
If toggled, the member could post, and could see their submitted posts appear (perhaps greyed text) as a normal post in the conversation, but the post would not appear for other members until a moderator cleared it.
The moderation flag would be set for the thread, and maybe some additional moderation icon to the side of the thread would appear alerting moderators that the thread contained posts that needed to be cleared. Perhaps the post would appear greyed out, but in place for the moderators too, and it might have an "approve" button appear much like a kudo or accepted solution button appears on the right hand side of the post. When clicked to approve, the post would become black text and normal - viewable by all. If a mod didn't want to approve, they could use the pull down to take normal moderation actions - delete, move, etc.
The toggle function could be accomplished via a pull down, or a setting from the profile page (where mod / admin comments can be stored, along with bans displayed), or this might be done by a role that could be applied automatically or manually.
Why I'm suggesting this:
The purpose of this idea is in the same line as another idea here which suggests auto-bans if the smut filter it triggered multple times within a certain interval.
In my case, I'm seeking alternative features that will help to curb some users that we might wish to place on probation, but not outright ban. We have a couple members who post erratically - some of the their content is ok, and some fall in the category of profane rants, public reposting of moderators private counciling of them, etc. Obviously short term bans may be a tactical solution, along with further moderation of their posted content, but the bans are less desireable in that it denies continued participation, even passive access to other help being provided, and moderation coverage may not be 24/7 and available moderators should not be consumed with "real time" damage control.
Include the actual content (e.g. post, comment, reply) in addition to the URL in email notifications. Basically, it would just save the time of having to click a link and make sure you are looking at the right part of the thread. Also, it would make it easier to share community content via email.
I understand there's benefit in getting the person to go back to the community to view the new content, but I've heard this from our internal moderators on several different occasions ever since I took over our Lithium implementation, so I figured it was time to post it here and see if anyone else would be interested in this change. ![]()
Make it easier to distinguis h between new ideas (posted recently) & ideas that are new to me
Status:
Duplicate
We recently launched Ideas on our Community, and while I have different nav / filter options (e.g. Hot Ideas, New Ideas, Top Ideas), labels, tags, and statuses, it's still hard for me to moderate...in terms of reading/reviewing all new ideas and comments.
One example would be that the "New Ideas" tab shows ideas that were most recently posted, but I may have already read them, so they aren't new to me. I would like to see something added that made it easier to distinguish what is new or "unread" to me. I think this could work a couple different ways..."New: <Insert Subject Line Here>" or a bolded subject line (similar to how new forum threads / threads with new activity are displayed in forum boards). I'm guessing that offering the Subject Only View for Ideas will help with this too, but what about folks that stay with the verbose / blog / digest view?

I would love to see batch processing extended so that it could be used within threads like it can be within boards. Recently, I've had several long threads that I needed to separate into two different threads. The messages that I needed to move out of thread 1 into thread 2 weren't always replies, so I couldn't do a bulk pickup using that function. I ended up moving them one at a time which was very tedious. A list of messages with checkboxes would have been much more efficient.

The Profanity (smut) filters work great. It's sad that folks like to swear in their posts, but it gives our Moderators something to do between humorous posts. It would be cool if a role could be applied (or even a User Ban) if a user posts excessive profanity.
Say... the filter catches 3 instances of profanity (smut filter matches) in a single post. I'd like to 'punish' the user for 1 Violating the Rules, and 2 posting something completely unnecessary.
This probably seems harsh, but sometimes people need a dose of the No Bat... if you know what I mean.
Have you ever wanted to save a copy of a thread in another location without having to 'move' it? What if you wanted to create a board and store all 'The Funny Things Users Say" and simply copy the post or thread to that location for posterity... but keep the thread in the public area for all to enjoy?
How about create a read-only board where you move the most commonly asked questions/answers (again, thinking Tribal KB... but perhaps a poor man's version)? I'd like to take a 'solved' thread and copy only the question and 'solution' to that read only board. I'd like to keep the original thread in the main discussion area(s) to preserve the conversation with only the 'meat' of the thread appearing in the read-only section.
Darn, this is getting confusing... simply put: I'd like the ability to 'copy' posts/threads to another area while preserving the original.
Note: copied posts/threads would not impact post count.
Often I make an announcement-type post and 'float' it to the top of a board. I then find I want to place the same message in another board or boards. It would be great if I could sticky a thread to multiple boards. Replies to the thread would also appear in each board regardless of where the reply originated.
Say a thread about a superuser promoted to mini-mod status. I want to post a 'join me in congratulating..." thread in the applicable boards.
I just had to turn 10 pages worth of images to private in an image gallery since they had been posted to a private forum yet were not marked as private. There does not appear to be any batch processing available in the image gallery for moderators so I had to check each message individually instead of checking all images at once. Therefore, it would be great to give an option to "check all images".
