Currently Functionality:
You can bookmark, have RSS feeds, or subscribe to boards, threads, and ideas. But for search results, you can only have a RSS feed. For those people who aren't RSS feed people or don't want 38 widgets on their iGoogle homepage, it's nice to offer other search results options.
Requested Functionality:
We've customized our Lithium solution, so that members /moderators can request email subscriptions to search queries/results.
And it's awesome...people love it, because they can do a few different searches on terms related to their area of expertise and then they're proactively notified when something relating to their area of expertise is being discussed in the forum. I would like to see this as standard functionality in the Lithium platform.
Business Impact:
-Helps SMEs stay involved in conversations relevant to them...regardless of where the conversation is taking place in the community
-Provides friendly "Come visit the community" email reminders

I had an idea I thought I'd float here to get group reactions...
Suppose as part of the rank system, there would be a box in which a predefined congratulatory message could be entered by the admin. There would be a check box to auto send the message to members upon rank achievement.
This would allow the community manager to tailor some messages geared toward certain behavior triggers that were met. These might recognize ranks for being especially active in the community, or for the time investment in terms of logins & minutes online, or recognition based - kudos, or other legacy ratings.
The message could also call out some of the new permissions being bestowed ...
In short, it would be a way that members could receive some personalized private messages from the community recognizing them on rank / role changes and increasing the positive impact of the achievement without burdening the mods & admins with a lot email duties.
Thoughts?
Include the actual content (e.g. post, comment, reply) in addition to the URL in email notifications. Basically, it would just save the time of having to click a link and make sure you are looking at the right part of the thread. Also, it would make it easier to share community content via email.
I understand there's benefit in getting the person to go back to the community to view the new content, but I've heard this from our internal moderators on several different occasions ever since I took over our Lithium implementation, so I figured it was time to post it here and see if anyone else would be interested in this change. ![]()
