Post it into the flow...
see it rise on its merits

It would be very useful to have a tool that allowed you to schedule blogs to be published at a certain time and date.  Future Shop is a retail site, so a lot of our publishes are scheduled to go up overnight and we frequently link to blogs for content and other information, which leaves us in a bit of a disadvantage because we can't synchronize the blog content to be published with the website content (or with scheduled tweets).

We also have a team of bloggers who contribute to the Tech Blog who are sometimes bound by NDAs (can't publish information until a certain date) and will have to stay up just to push the post button.  Also, it allows them to always be posting fresh content even if they're away on vacation (right now they save all their articles in draft form and I go in and publish them on the dates they've provided me with).

It would also allow for content to be published on evenings and weekends for those who work during the day only!

thanks!

Our community members have requested this therefore I am passing on their suggestion.

This is a pet peeve of mine and it is a very simple fix. When I click on "reply" to a post on a message board, I often begin typing as soon as the screen comes up. When I look up at the screen, there is nothing written because I have not clicked on the "Body" field on the screen. There is no reason to require users to go through that extra step! If I clicked reply, it kinda means that I want to reply, so why not just have the cursor go automatically to the field where I will type in my reply?

Thanks.

As our community grows we are finding that the Ideas Exchange category is growing very quickly. It would be useful if we could add an additional tab for implemented ideas. Hot Ideas, New Ideas, Top Ideas and Implemented Ideas. This way our users could see what ideas have been put in place, while allowing us to clear up some space in the Ideas Exchange and have better organization

Clickable Rank Badges

Status: New Idea
by Occasional Advisor 3 weeks ago - last edited 3 weeks ago

Hey all,

I think it would be great to have the little Rank badge next to a user's name act as a clickable link. You could use this for various diffent reasons - mainly for manually applied ranks (which we use a lot of in our community).

I came up with this idea a while ago and because it's not immediately possible within Lithium I have managed to develep a work-around for our community. Feel free to see how we applied it -

http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=62&message.id=1626211#M1626211

The rank badge has a mouse over and is also click-able!

However, the preference is to have the rank badge remain next to the user's name but that was our sacrifice, as you can see with my work-around it sits UNDER the user's name.

It would be great to see this developed to suit the current setting in Lithium!

:smileyhappy:

Our users would like to keep track of recent messages they have posted that were marked as a solution.  Perhaps this is another bit of information that could be displayed on the user profile page?

ISSUE:

Following the upgrade to version 9, we've have some internal users note that when viewing the forum in "Topic" view (threaded) that all the post replies are shown at the board view.  For long discussions with more than 10 replies or so, this can make the user have to flip through several pages before getting to the next thread.

REQUESTED FUNCTION / IDEA:

Provide a toggle option in user profile controlling threaded view to expand all or collapse all threads.   At the board view, implement the familiar [+] [-] type widget next to the discussion balloon icon (or maybe the balloon could have the +/- on it ) to allow users to expand / collapse individual threads to see all replies.   This toggle icon would only appear on the board when the user had their profile selected for topic (threaded) view vs linear view.

Current Functionality:

We have lots of wonderful, granular metrics for different types of user behavior--forum posts, replies, ideas, idea comments, blog entries, blog comments, etc.  But there's not an "umbrella metric" that rolls up all of a user's content contributions.

Requested Functionality:

I would like this sort of all-encompassing metric for member's content contributions (e.g. forum posts, replies, ideas, idea comments, blog entries, blog comments).

Business Impact:

This would make reporting Community #'s to management/executives who want to know how much activity we're getting but aren't as interested in the nuanced behaviors or the difference between a forum post and an idea or an idea comment.

I still like the ability to have the granular reporting, but it would be great to have one metric that would roll up everything, so I don't have to pull several reports and add up the #'s.

It would be great to have a link at the bottom of each post that links back to the top of the page. That way users wouldn't have to scroll all the way back to the top of the page of a long thread.

sorting the audit log

Status: New Idea
by Frequent Advisor on 10-06-2009 02:30 PM

Greetings..

It would be wonderul if we had the ability to sort the audit log by certain attributes.

I'm not finding this as an option in metrics and in the audit log it's just by time/date.

Can I sort by screen name? That would be fantastic.

let's admins quickly go through and find all actions by a certain user.

So, my idea is to have that function available.

Thanks

-John

Currently, we need to manually grant employee user roles to all employees account. We are also looking at the possibility of starting private partner accounts, which would require manual role assignment for all users from the partner organization.

It would be very helpful to have some type of function that automatically assign roles to email domains based on a predefined set of rules.

Another possibility is to have some type of bulk user role management tool that uses a set of logic and variables (perhaps including domain name, IP blocks..etc)

Thanks

ac

Possible to add something like this? The current way requires users to leave the avatar tab, navigate to their image console and upload there...then go back to the Avatar tab in settings and finish up. Would be nice to have less steps.  Thoughts?

Add Kudos to the Rank Criteria (non code)

Status: Comments Requested
by Frequent Advisor on 08-24-2009 02:53 PM - last edited on 08-24-2009 02:54 PM

I guess this is an 'ease of use' request.

In the ranking structure when you assign criteria for reaching each rank, there is no box for kudos available. To assign Kudos as a part of the criteria it must be manually coded in. Not all that hard but when you look at the main list of ranks you do not see the formula. So, I'd rather have Kudos show up over items like 'time since registered' and such.

I'd like to have the ability as an admin to send out announcements via the private message tool to the entire community population or groups of members.  I realize I can make use of the announcements module, but it'd be much more effective to message the entire community from time to time.

I'm sure some within the Lithosphere will be view this as spamming members.  But I'm just referring to sending instructional messages to take advantage of certain features or to select an avatar or to participate in a brand new forum.

It seems like this is a rather common feature in other communities and would be a great tool to help engage the member base.

I can see a lot of scenarios where one would want to send a message to more than one member. The role-based concept seems interesting:smileyhappy:. I'd love to hear more use-cases around that.

Right now, the user profile page basically only shows date registered, number of forum posts and number of tags.  It would be great if it would also show number of Ideas posted, Idea comments posted (and probably blog metrics as well, although we don't use them).  I think the number of Kudos given / received could also be displayed as we display it in leaderboards.

Background:  Often when I see some new members who join and I recognize them as employees and wish to add a specific role (and resulting rank) to them, I have to remember the name, navigate to the admin panel and to the permissions, find the role and add the name.  Likewise, other times, I might see a member name in the course of reading a discussion and wish to click directly on that member's name and take action of affecting roles, or perhaps in the course of reading a PM.

Idea:  Add a link in the member profile that would only be seen by those with permissions to manage users.  Clicking the link would pop a new window with the content of editing permissions for that member, it would have the list of all roles which could be clicked to add or remove the particular role for the user, and below that panel is the list of of the individual permissions in case one wanted to (not recommended) make specific adjustments for a particular permission for just that user.  This alternate navigation path could simplify user management efforts.

We've heard this one a lot. Thanks for submitting the idea Mark. We'll hopefully get to this soon.

Authenticated RSS feeds for private boards

Status: New Idea
by Occasional Contributor sgraff on 09-02-2009 03:08 PM

We need authenticated RSS feeds.

We want to be able to create a portal on our web site that shows a customer all of their interactions with our company through our various systems, including our home grown CRM, RNT support incidents and Lithium blogs and support forums. We have just begun offering private discussion boards for a sub-set of our customers. We would like to be able to provide a listing of the most recent threads in the private boards on our portal, including threads in the private boards to which they have access. In order to do this Lithium needs to offer authenticated RSS feeds.

Community Options

Status: New Idea
by Occasional Contributor Jason on 09-17-2009 01:41 PM

After our upgrade to the current version, we lost the "Community Options" menu to the "Community Admin" link.  Our superusers mention often missing the "mark all as read" functionality.  Is there any way to get any of the functions that were in that menu back?

Currently Functionality:

You can bookmark, have RSS feeds, or subscribe to boards, threads, and ideas.  But for search results, you can only have a RSS feed.  For those people who aren't RSS feed people or don't want 38 widgets on their iGoogle homepage, it's nice to offer other search results options.

Requested Functionality:

We've customized our Lithium solution, so that members /moderators can request email subscriptions to search queries/results.

And it's awesome...people love it, because they can do a few different searches on terms related to their area of expertise and then they're proactively notified when something relating to their area of expertise is being discussed in the forum.    I would like to see this as standard functionality in the Lithium platform.

Business Impact:

-Helps SMEs stay involved in conversations relevant to them...regardless of where the conversation is taking place in the community

-Provides friendly "Come visit the community" email reminders

I find that my superusers are tripping over one-another to answer a question on the boards. Within minutes of an initial post, there are 3-4 replies from superusers and others. I've often heard that if there were a way for them to see if anyone else was replied to the post, they would wait until the first user has replied.

IDEA: User A and User B are superusers. User A sees a thread and begins replying to it. User B sees the same thread moments later, and clicks Reply. At the bottom of the Editor for User B, it shows "users replying to same post: User A, LiquidSasquatch" and this list is dynamically updated as users reply to a thread.

We have an interesting problem to tackle here. How to notify a user that another user is in the process of replying to that thread or that there is a new post that was just made without discouraging other users to contribute. I certainly see value in alerting a user who is in the process of posting, that there has been an update to the post...similar to updates that you receive while replying in a gmail conversation. Thanks for the idea!

I searched for this because I assumed it would have already been submitted as an idea but since I didn't find it, I figured I would add it to the Ideas.

I would like to have a rich text editor inside the Community Admin anywhere that HTML is allowed.  This would be a screen similar to the New Message screen so that the text can be created in Rich Text or HTML and be Previewed.  This would eliminate the need for using the New Message screen as a workaround to HTML programming.

This is already turning out to be a hot idea! Nice. Thanks for the idea Christine.
