Allow people to subscribe to search results

Status: Under Consideration

Currently Functionality:

You can bookmark, have RSS feeds, or subscribe to boards, threads, and ideas.  But for search results, you can only have a RSS feed.  For those people who aren't RSS feed people or don't want 38 widgets on their iGoogle homepage, it's nice to offer other search results options.

Requested Functionality:

We've customized our Lithium solution, so that members /moderators can request email subscriptions to search queries/results.

And it's awesome...people love it, because they can do a few different searches on terms related to their area of expertise and then they're proactively notified when something relating to their area of expertise is being discussed in the forum.    I would like to see this as standard functionality in the Lithium platform.

Business Impact:

-Helps SMEs stay involved in conversations relevant to them...regardless of where the conversation is taking place in the community

-Provides friendly "Come visit the community" email reminders

Wow, what a great idea!  My members having been asking for an easier way to find and be alerted of topics of interest to them but I never thought of being able to subscribe to search results.  I would definitely use this on my community.

This could also provide a workaround solution for search-based notifications until RSS feeds can be made to work on private [authenticated] boards / communities [per idea http://lithosphere.lithium.com/t5/Suggest-Your-Ideas/Authenticated-RSS-feeds-for-private-boards/ba-p/3799].

Right now, private boards/communities can't be notified of search results at all.
