Just launched our community and got a request from a member:

It would be better if there was a system-wide RSS feed so you didn't have to click into each board and find the RSS feed URL. 

Can Lithum support this feature?

Hello Neil!

That is a great idea! As far as I am aware, our software only allows the ability for users to receive RSS feeds on certain pages/content (Boards, Threads, Messages, Blogs, Ideas, etc). Here are a couple of discussions already in progress regarding RSS/Bookmarking functionality in our Ideas area:

Social Bookmarking for all community content

Feel free to add your comments there, or create your own Idea if you feel it is a seperate issue.

RSS by node and by interaction style (board, blog or idea). One of the new features from the recent upgrade! You can see some modifications of this on the front page of this community with the links next to each carousel item, but the link above uses the root level node 'top'.

Prior to that, though, is the ability to get RSS from search - even a blank search:

http://lithosphere.lithium.com/lithium/rss/search

That's something you can do on older versions as well, though the syntax is slightly different - use search options to get the URL that works for you.

Scott, the first of those links only picks up the first message in a thread/blogentry/idea (boo!) while the second one picks up everything including replies (yay!).  Is the first one broken or WAD?

Oops, misunderstood the request. By design, the first link returns only the top level posts. But you can add &feeds.replies=true to the end to get everything:

http://lithosphere.lithium.com/lithium/rss/Category?category.id=top&interaction.style=board&feeds.replies=true
